Funded Childcare at Winton House
15 & 30 Hours Funding – How It Works
At Winton House Day Nursery, we are pleased to offer Government-funded childcare places for eligible children. Below is an explanation of how we implement the 15 and 30 hours funded childcare entitlements, alongside our session fees.
Our Opening Pattern
We are open Monday to Friday, 8.00am–6.00pm, for 50 weeks of the year, closing only for:
- Bank holidays
- One week between Christmas and New Year
You will not be charged for these closure periods. Charges still apply for child absence due to sickness or holidays.

Funded Childcare Entitlements
From 9 Months Old
Eligible children can receive 1140 funded hours per year from the first term after they turn 9 months. This can be taken as:
- 30 hours per week over 38 weeks (term time), or
- Stretched funding: 22.8 hours per week over 50 weeks, which aligns with our year-round opening.
From 3 Years Old
From the term after a child’s 3rd birthday:
- All children receive 15 hours Universal Funding
- Eligible working families may receive an additional 15 hours, giving a total of 30 hours
How We Stretch Funding
We stretch funded hours across the full year (50 weeks) and divide this into three terms:
- January – April
- May – August
- September – December
Stretched Funding Explained
- Funding is claimed in 5-hour session blocks
- Each stretched block provides 3 hours and 48 minutes of funded time
- The remaining 1 hour and 12 minutes per session is chargeable at the age-related rate

- There is a voluntary food charge of £4 for tea
- Parents may alternatively provide a packed tea
We follow Gloucestershire County Council school term dates, and parents are reminded of school holiday dates at the beginning of each term.
